Collection: Delvaux TOILE DE CUIR

Invented in 1962, toile de cuir is one of the rarest leather techniques in luxury craftsmanship. It was born from the extraordinary life story of Charles Schambourg, a former World War II secret agent, who was left disabled after a mission in Nazi Germany. Confined to textile weaving, he created the woven leather technique, whilst on travel in Iran. Here he created a unique gift for an Iranian princess from the Shah of Iran’s entourage. Its refinement and technical mastery caught the eye of Solange Schwennicke, heading Delvaux from the 1970s. The encounter led to a long-standing collaboration with the maison Delvaux, establishing Delvaux toile de cuir as a hallmark of Belgian savoir-faire and exceptional leather heritage. MyDayDayBelgium has curated some special pieces from the Delvaux toile de cuir collection to celebrate the beauty of this craftsmanship
