Born in 1967 - in a decade defined by freedom, movement, and new horizons, the Delvaux Tempête captures the spirit of a world in motion. Inspired by the elegance of sailing, a powerful emblem of modern leisure sport and independence in Belgium at the time, the bag echoes the tension of a sailboat’s spinnaker filled with wind, poised between control and release. Its sculptural trapezoidal form, punctuated by metal studs, recalls nautical hardware and rigging, while its very name, Tempête, evokes the thrill of navigating the elements - nicely fitting the spirit of the decade also.
Rooted in the architectural language of Bauhaus and streamlined modernism, the Tempête translates the recently passed, Le Corbusier’s pure geometry into leather. Of course it is by inspiration only, not by the means of the "poème électronique" - the world fair's Philipps pavillon that inspired the Delvaux Brillant - but by the idea of the clean lines and enhancing functionalism. Delvaux, the architect of leather, constructs the bag around two exceptional gussets—masterpieces of craftsmanship that give structure, strength, and sensuality to the design.
