The 2019 version of the Delvaux « dans les nuages » Magritte MM edition - white buckle - is a subtle hint at Magritte canvas motif where a painting hides another painting. Following suite of its 2014 first blue buckle edition hinting at the sky, here yet again Delvaux hints that there is yet again something behind the apparent object - the buckle. A cloud in the sky - open space, freedom - all or nothing or simply a staged illusion.
Similar to Magritte challenging continuously our perception of reality for example by hiding motives in unexpected interior places - Delvaux playfully adopts this idea by the sudden an unexpected pop up of the painters’ clouds when opening the lambskin interior of the bag.
