Delvaux Vintage dreamcatcher - 1960s
This bag carries the story of a young belgian woman in her 1960s having two dreams: owning this beautiful handbag and becoming a Belgian police officer. Working as a machine typist she put away money month by month to be able to afford the bag, next to attending afternoon classes to become a female police officer. As she finally came to pass her exam, her situation changed and she decided to put her energy to raising her family instead.
She still bought this beautiful bag with her precious savings and carried it faithfully for years and years. Over 2 generations it stayed within her family ... The beauty of this story is that her grand-daughter did become a police officer eventually, thereby fulfilling her grandmother's dream, deciding at that time to pass this "dreamcatcher" bag onto a next wishmaker, to create new family successes.
The bag amazes through its impressive craftsmanship and difficult design .
Its leather is still beautifully hand polished with an agathe stone giving its leather this rare shine you can only find on vintage bags and glamorous reflection matches so wonderfully its story. The handle was fully restored by Delvaux and whilst the flap reflects the age of the leather, its overall appearance is a testament to the love that was given to this bag over generations and the dreamcatcher luck it passes onto the beholder. .
